Following a positive Covid-19 test to a team member, Savannah Marshall (8-0, 6 KOs) and Hannah Rankin (9-4, 2 KOs) will finally contend for the vacant WBO Middleweight Championship on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora this Saturday in the UK.
Marshall is set to go after her old nemesis from the amateurs, Claressa Shields, whom she has dealt the only defeat (amateur or professional) to the Unified Super Welterweight Champion in due time. Along the way, she is staying as active as possible with fight options falling through due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Since turning professional in 2017, she has moved through all 8 opponents thus far even though much of the opposition has not on the same level.
The humble musician Rankin has not shied away from challenges. Contending for multiple championships in just 13 professional bouts speaks volumes for Scottish warrior. She has built a reputation of a champion and has surrounded herself with championship associations. Camps have typically involved the best of the best in the sport. Expect a strong effort from the Scot.
The WBO Middleweight Championship bout will go down at Wembley Arena in UK and live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and DAZN in the US.
