Top Rank’s Tuesday Night Fights Main Event from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV will pit one of the US’s top prospects Mikaela Mayer (12-0, 5 KOs) against Nigeria’s “Iron Lady” Helen Joseph (17-4-2, 10 KOs) in a 10 Round Super Featherweight non-title contest.
Top Rank touts their boxer Mayer as the next great hope where boxing gave her life lessons and grounding, leading her to the Olympics and now unbeaten professional record with a minor title.
Case in point:
Joseph has been a fighter throughout her life, having nothing in Nigeria and fighting her way to survive. Now, at 31 years of age, she has a true team behind her after contesting for world titles against the best in the sport.
Top Rank has not giving Mayer the easy track to a world title, but they just put her in line with Terri Harper, Ewa Brodnicka, Hyun Mi Choi, and Maiva Hamadouche if successful in denting the metal of Joseph.
The “Iron Lady” will make this a bout to remember as she pressures hard and does not slow easily. She has been in an extended camp in Philadelphia, after their initial fight date of June 9th date was scrapped due to Mayer’s positive Covid-19 test. There was no rest for the determined Joseph.
